Hello, welcome to Body Babble
After 9+ years of making disability media everywhere else, I'm starting my own newsletter
Dear every body,
Welcome to Body Babble, the newsletter where crip, queer & misfit bodies talk back.
If you don’t know me already, I’m Celestine Fraser, the author.
I’ve been writing and making films about health, disability and identity for the last 9+ years. In that time, I’ve worked with the BBC, BFI, VICE and lots of charities, organisations and businesses. My films have screened at festivals around the world and I’ve won awards for my work in media.
But lately I’ve been craving something different.
I want to publish more frequently, and to spend less time pitching to execs, funders and gatekeepers. I want to write with less fear, more freedom and more room for experimentation. And I want to build more of a relationship with my readers — a conversation that goes further than fire emojis (although please do keep sending me those, too).
My first article is about Stammering Pride, a social movement by people who stammer, and it will be published very soon. And my brain has been buzzing with new ideas, so I have lots of articles planned for the coming months!
If you haven’t already, please subscribe, so you receive my newsletters directly in your inbox. You can also access everything I publish on the Substack website or app.
Say hello on email or Instagram — don’t be shy! I’d love to know who you are and why you’re here. And if you enjoy the newsletter, feel free to share it with others to help me find new readers.
I’m honoured you’re joining me on this weird, wonderful journey into Body Babble!
Speak soon,
Celestine x
Welcome!! So exciting, your work will help so many people feel empowered ✨
